Prenuptial Agreements
Prenuptial Agreements
Some couples who are getting married choose to enter into a prenuptial agreement, or “prenup.” This agreement spells out what would happen to the couple’s assets and liabilities should the couple separate. It is important for each spouse to meet with a qualified lawyer to determine if a prenuptial agreement is right for them. If the parties would like a prenuptial agreement, then they must exchange financial information so that their lawyers can create a proper and comprehensive document. Remember that because creating a solid prenup takes time, couples should speak with lawyers well ahead of their wedding date.
